Jean Augustine Centre for Young Women’s Empowerment

“The Jean Augustine Centre for Young Women’s Empowerment has been fortunate enough to create a relationship with several University of Toronto students through the Centre for Community Partnerships Community Engaged Learning initiative in the past two years. As a non-profit organization focused on empowering young women and girls through experiential learning and opportunities for personal development, we are tremendously grateful to the CEL students for generously lending their time, expertise, and creativity to help us generate research clarifying the needs of young women and girls in Canada. This research enables us to understand how to best support female youth in Canada and ultimately informs the development and implementation of our programming.

In our most recent cohort of CEL volunteers, the students were vitally important to the research and development of our annual research report, the Empowered Report, which investigates a different aspect of the challenges facing young women and girls in Canada.

Over the course of six months, these students worked diligently to gather and communicate research on topics related to intervention programs and self-confidence of young women, creating what we believe is an invaluable resource for ourselves and other stakeholders in young women’s wellbeing in Canada. The Jean Augustine Centre looks forward to continuing our partnership with the Centre for Community Partnerships and working with successive cohorts of students to learn more about how we can maximize girls’ potential across Canada!”
