Centre of Learning & Development

“Having a CEL student as part of our social enterprise team was a valuable experience! The insight and alternative points of view were integral in CL&D creating and launching programs to service newcomers interested in working in hospitality. It was also great to see the development and progress of the student and to be part of helping them start their career journey.”

CL&D’s mission statement: We build community, one person at a time.

CL&D’s vision: Strong Communities Together

The Centre of Learning & Development (CL&D) began in 1979 under the name “East End Literacy” in Regent Park, serving the Regent Park, Moss Park and St. Jamestown communities. CL&D has still stayed strong in its roots, now expanding to provide lifelong learning and training programs for participants around the GTA looking to prepare for employment, continue their education, increase their community engagement, and/or grow their independence and confidence. Some of CL&D’s key programming includes Academic Skills Upgrading, the Immigrant Women Integration Program, Food Processing Essentials and the Regent Park Sewing Studio. CL&D also supports local social enterprise incubation and works closely with community groups throughout the Downtown East and all of the Greater Toronto Area.
